3 Ways Your Donation Makes an Impact

We're getting close to the end of the year, which means you have just 3 more weeks to participate in The Pawlidays! To celebrate, here are 3 ways that your donation to our Pawlidays campaign makes an impact all-year-round. You can make your gift before January 1st here.

1. Your donation will provide spay/neuter surgeries to animals in need.

Pet Community Center was founded on the idea that more spay/neuter surgeries equals less homeless pets. Ten years later, we've spayed/neutered nearly 53,000 animals, and Nashville's shelter intake rate has dropped over 60%, and the euthanasia rate has dropped to less than 10%. Our accessible spay/neuter services have prevented hundreds of thousands of unwanted animals from being born and allowed the animals in our community to live happier and healthier lives with the people who love them.

But, spaying/neutering 53,000 animals has a cost. Your donations allow PCC to keep our services accessible to all pet owners. For example, since January 1st of this year, we have spayed/neutered 5,215 animals and provided clients with financial assistance for 3,042 of those surgeries. We have used our new Spay/Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP) to fully cover the cost of 1,692 surgeries for pets with owners in Davidson County facing financial hardship.

2. Your donation will vaccinate animals against serious and even fatal diseases.

One of the most commonly cited reasons for pet surrenders is the cost of veterinary care. That's why our vaccine clinic offers affordable vaccines, flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormer, and other preventive services.

We find that the saying - "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound in cure" - is especially true in veterinary medicine. By providing accessible and affordable preventive veterinary care, pet owners can keep their pets protected against serious and even fatal diseases.

Your donation helps us to keep our vaccine clinic services accessible to all pet owners, which in turn, keeps pets healthy and out of the shelters. Your generosity also helps us to waive office visit fees for pet owners on government assistance. This year we waived 1,692 office visit fees for pet owners experiencing financial hardship.

3. Your donation will provide pet food and supplies to our families most in need.

Under the mentorship of The Humane Society of the United States, our Pets for Life (PFL) program serves North and East Nashville neighborhoods with high rates of poverty and limited access to pet services and resources. We use long-term, door-to-door outreach to build trust and connect with people and their pets, and then provide affordable and accessible veterinary care and supplies.

In addition to spaying/neutering 253 pets through the PFL program since the beginning of the year, we have given out 1,017 pet supplies (i.e. leashes, food, shelters) and covered the cost of 2,429 medications/services for pets living with low-income families. When you donate to our Pawlidays campaign, you give Pets for Life clients the pet supplies they need to keep their pets happy and healthy.
